Ms. Smith, a Memphis native, attended the University of Memphis where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and earned a Minor in Legal Thought. Ms. Smith received her law degree from Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

While in law school, Ms. Smith was involved with the Black Law Students Association and was awarded for her Pro Bono service. She also was a Student Ambassador and a peer mentor. During law school, Ms. Smith worked for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the City of Memphis City Attorney’s Office
